  • My name is Xi Chen (Celia). I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Social Policy, Lingnan University, Hong Kong.

     

    I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Sociology from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Before joining Lingnan University, I worked as a Research Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Fellow at the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, CUHK. I was a recipient of the Harvard-Yenching Institute Fellowship and was a visiting fellow at Harvard University from 2013-2014.

     

    My research interests include social determinants of health, crime and deviance, substance abuse, and health inequality. My work has appeared in Health and Place, Information Processing and Management, Journal of Medical Internet Research, Preventive Medicine, Aids and Behavior, Asian Journal of Criminology, Chinese Journal of Communication, International Migration, among others. I received the Asian Criminological Society Best Article Award in 2021 (co-authored with Dr. Yuet-wah Cheung).
